The beginner barbell club is a huge passion project of mine. I love introducing women to strength and powerlifting training. And I am hugely passionate about removing the barriers that exist for women who want to get involved in gym-based training and strength sports.

Powerlifting and strength gyms are pretty daunting, I get it. I’ve been lifting for 15 years and I still feel anxious when I walk in to a new powerlifting gym for the first time.

I created the beginner barbell club because I was tired of fear and intimidation being the barrier between women and strength training. I was tired of women reverting to subpar training, training alone, or training in environments that don’t inspire them because the alternative was just so far out of their comfort zone.

That was five years ago now. I still love doing it.

So if you want to learn the ropes with a barbell, lift well, get strong as hell and do it with a group of people that you’ll actually love training with, I am dying to meet you.

In eight weeks we will,

  • Improve your strength, fitness and muscle mass,

  • Learn how to squat, bench press and deadlift with correct technique,

  • Learn how to perform an array of other barbell, dumbbell and and machine-based exercises,

  • Be confident to walk in to a gym alone and completely own it,

  • Understand how to write training programs,

  • Recruit new friends and training partners and

  • Of course get a whole lot stronger.

The beginner barbell club is an eight-week program. A gang of four.

In a small group, and with training with the same crew each day, you can count on having ample attention to develop your skills and to always feel supported by both me as your coach and the crew you have around you.

inclusions:

  • 3x strength training sessions per week at The Strength Fortress in Maidstone for eight weeks

  • Face to face coaching every session

  • 2x four-week periodised strength training programs with emphasis on the development of technique, strength, fitness and muscle mass

  • Warm up protocols to prepare you for each session and

  • Education around exercise execution, exercise programming, warm up and recovery protocols.
